Swimsuits are an unavoidable element of the summertime, although the vast majority of full-figured females feel daunted at the prospect of shopping for them. These women even consider wearing caftans by the pool or at the shore rather than looking unattractive. Designers and shopkeepers are finally beginning to recognize the unique fashion problems of the larger woman, and at last are now featuring an assortment of stylish bathing suit designs in larger sizes.
When it is time to buy bathing suits there are a few things you need to consider. What will flatter your body the most at a time when you are wearing the least? Full figured women should look for support for the bust first. Built in bras, and bras with underwire in plus sizes are available. These bras will provide support and therefore have a slimming effect. The makers of plus size swim wear will sometimes add both support and slenderizing effects. Buy your swim wear with the same considerations that you use when buying your bras and you will look good and feel great.
Now think next about which particular cut of swimsuit would best show off your particular form. One usually finds that a one-piece swimsuit most flatters any larger size female. That is because an uninterrupted line has the tendency of making a figure appear to be thinner. Midriff bulges disappear, and one sees only the good points instead of noticing the bad ones.
The two most flattering styles of swimwear for the full figured beachgoer are the tankini and the blouson style suit. The tankini is a two-piece suit but is not a bikini: rather, it looks like a tank top and complementary boy cut shorts (or bikini bottom, if you prefer). There are so many designs that can make tankinis look sporty, fun, flirty, or elegant. This kind of suit can be helpful to downplay or hide uncomfortable areas of the plus sized body, and it is stylish and pretty to boot. Tankinis with a longer top can meet the bottom and appear similar to a one-piece suit, and shorter tops show a bit of skin between the two pieces. You can buy your tankini as a matching set or you can mix and match to find your own unique combination that expresses just your style.
If you want to flaunt your shapely legs but would rather not display the upper part of your body, a blouson cut is an excellent alternative. It evens out the appearance of the upper and lower portions of a larger size woman’s anatomy. The straps of the blouson and its little cap sleeves are also flattering on a full-bodied female.
You want to find a swimsuit whose straps are wide enough, and you want to be fussy about the way the leg is styled. High cuts tend to be lengthening and slenderizing. If your upper legs are wide and your overall leg measurement is short, avoid at all costs those suits that come with extremely short shorts or skirts, since they will simply accentuate the problem. They will also have a tendency to bind and will prove uncomfortable, especially in the water.
Children’s fashions are not an easy task. There are trends emerging each season. The seasons are Spring and Fall-Holiday and the collections differ greatly. Fall and Holiday dresses usually are produced at the same time. Christmas dresses are a very popular item and so are Easter dresses. These two holiday seasons pretty much keep the children’s boutique clothing stores in business. There are lots of specialty occasions things also like christening, baby shower gifts and birthday outfits. This is the most difficult clientele and niche in its category. With competitive marketing strategies and a well aware buyer status, the manufacturers are proactive in their ability to create newer comfortable solutions in dresses.
There is a large demand for boys specialty clothing items. People complain and ask why children’s boutique stores don’t carry more boys clothing. Boys clothing is very hard to find. The reason for this is simply that boys clothing are just as difficult or more difficult to produce than girls clothing. People just are not willing to pay the same price for boys clothes as they are for the cute little girly things. There is a large demand for smocked Easter dresses for kids and also ones that have special messages like picture smocking with birthday cakes or birthday balloons and party hats. New born and infants clothing is in very high demand in these tough economic times. There will always be a need for clothes for new born babies. Peruvian cotton layette clothing for infants is of very much interest. Lines like Sweet Cheeks have matching blankets, bibs, hats, sleepers, onsies, rompers, dresses and leggings all in matching fabrics that can be displayed for customers in boutique stores. These make a very lovely display and customers seem to love these for baby shower gifts and just special things that grandma likes to buy. Applique clothing items such as jumpers and jon jons are very popular children’s clothing item.
Many years ago, mostly children of royalty wore this kind of clothing. Smocking is an ancient art which originated in England and was most popular during the thirteen and fourteen hundreds. Smocking is an exquisite art and is a kind of embroidery. It is mostly used in children’s clothing but is used somewhat in ladies blouses and night wear. Martha Pullen and Children’s Corner patterns has made smocking very popular for stay at home moms to do sewing for their children. Smocked dresses are available in jumpers for casual wear. In recent years, it has become popular to cut a square from the center front of a tee shirt and insert a square about 6 inches square in the center of the shirt to make a cute playful capri or pant set. Smocking patterns is all about threads. Mostly cotton thread is used. The design can vary according to the number of threads that are used to smock. The smocked dress can be done in lots of different patterns. The round yoke dress is called a bishop dress. Some dresses are smocked to the waist in a bodice pattern. Lots of sundresses are made with smocking designs. Sometimes white inserts are used in a color fabric and something called picture smocking is inserted to form a lovely picture such as santa for Christmas or bunny rabbits for Easter. Lots of different smocked clothing is enjoyed by children all over the world.
If you think your child should look like a little princess, then smocking is certainly something that you may want to consider. Lots of pieces of smocked clothing become heirloom clothing items. There are multiple companies producing handmade smocked children’s clothing. One outstanding smocked line is Bow Peep. Bow Peep is a handmade smocked dress line that has been in the United States for 16 years. Bow Peep clothing is manufactured in Central America by some of the most talented crafts people in the world. The native ladies there love doing this kind of work. They teach their young daughters at a young age to do the handmade smocking. They start them out doing what is called back smocking. This is the stitching that is done on the back of the design that causes the design to hold its shape. I was amazed to know that the 50 women that do the smocking for Bow Peep can produce about 200 smocked designs per day. That is an average of 4 dresses per day. That is pretty amazing as I have done some smocking myself and it would take me much longer.
Elegance is the reason for smocked clothing. Parents enjoy dressing their children in elegant and quality garments. A Children’s Boutique store is the best place to find those special one-of-a-kind items for your children.
There are many people with a love of vintage clothing. Some of these people like a particular type of item, like a vintage t shirt featuring a favorite band who visited their city years ago, possibly before they were even born. Other people like a very specific brand of clothing. Some people pay hundreds of dollars for Air Jordan tennis shoes from back in the days when they were first made available. Finally, some people fall in love with a style that was prevalent during a certain time period.
There are many retro clothing fans around today who simply adore the fashions of the 70s and 80s. These are two distinctly different eras in fashion however. Each started out as a carryover from the previous decade and then blossomed with its own special style. Of the two decades, the seventies probably showed the most change from beginning to end. It was also the more turbulent of the two decades in terms of societal change.
70s clothes began as simply a continuation of the somewhat sloppy hippie look of the late 1960s. Girls showed more fashion variation for the most part than boys. There were long skirts, tie dyed shirts made by hand, peasant blouses and all sorts of interesting attire. For most guys, the stereotypical image of the time was not quite as true or as extreme as some might think. There were bell bottom jeans, but not everyone walked around wearing headbands and carrying a guitar. Just as today, the basic uniform was often jeans and a t shirt. Sure, they looked a little bit different, but not all that much.
Later in the decade, the seventies made a transition toward more of a disco look. Shiny fashions and fabrics were made to catch eyes on the dance floor. The shimmer of the disco ball seemed to hypnotize the culture into not recognizing what were often very unusual looking outfits. Men wearing silk shirts with floral prints did not turn heads or seem unusual. Women wore outfits to work that today might be considered only appropriate for an evening out.
It was a time of great change in the United States. The government underwent a major scandal in Watergate, the country wanted out of Vietnam and a generation of young people wanted to forge their own identity. In hindsight, it seems that they chose disco music and some very interesting clothing styles to achieve their goal.
